Travel can also leave something good behind

Uganda is much more than its gorillas, national parks and spectacular landscapes. It is a country rich in culture, creativity, talent and stories worth sharing.

This belief is at the heart of Matatu Arts & Culture, Viajes Matatu's cultural and social initiative. A project created to give something back to the country that gives us so much, while helping tourism have a positive impact on the places and communities that are part of our journeys.

Uganda has an extraordinarily rich creative scene, yet many cultural initiatives and opportunities for artists are concentrated in Kampala. Through Matatu Arts & Culture, we want to help bring music, theatre, art and literature to other parts of the country, supporting and promoting initiatives that showcase local talent and create spaces where culture can be shared.

Through Viajes Matatu, we dedicate a portion of our profits to supporting activities such as concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions, competitions, cultural events, and projects related to literature and the arts.

We also believe in the work of organisations that are making a difference on the ground, helping to improve opportunities and well-being within Ugandan communities. That is why we collaborate with different NGOs and local social projects, supporting initiatives that create meaningful and sustainable impact.

As Viajes Matatu grows, we want our commitment to Uganda to grow with it: supporting its culture, working with local professionals and collaborating with organisations that understand the needs of their communities first-hand.
